Let's Talk Turkey
In preparation for the Thanksgiving Holiday this year the Community Action Agency of New Haven distributed turkeys, fresh fruits and vegetables, and non-perishable items to 115 families. We served 44 families that were new to our Food Pantry. Several of our staff donated extra time to package and hand out the food from 7 a.m. to 7 p.m. on distribution day. We received donations from students at Southern Connecticut State University, the staff of Gale-Part of Cengage Learning in Woodbridge, CT and Martha’s Place in addition to food purchased from the Connecticut Food Bank. Many recipients were pleasantly surprised that we were able to provide them with fresh produce and side dishes in addition to the turkey they expected.
Thank you Webster Lending Center
The Webster Bank Lending Center in Cheshire organized its staff to donate hats, gloves, scarves, and socks to CAANH this December. In just 4 days we were able to distribute 220 of the 230 articles donated . Thank you Maria Canales Tapia and Scott Russell for choosing us! We want Webster Bank to inspire our readers to consider doing your own campaign to support CAANH. Organize a food drive or hold a dinner party where guests are asked to contribute to our annual giving campaign.
