$20,000 COVID 19 Community Grant

NEW HAVEN, CT, April 7, 2020 – The Community Action Agency of New Haven (CAANH) is pleased to announce receipt of the Greater New Haven COVID-19 Community Fund Grant Award in the amount of $20,000. The Community Foundation for Greater New Haven and United Way of Greater New Haven have awarded CAANH unrestricted funds to support the purchase of food and technology to provide services, referrals, and case management for low-income individuals. CAANH is grateful to the Foundation for the continuous support as we continue to service our most vulnerable clients during the COVID-19 pandemic.

The mission of Community Action Agency of New Haven offers Pathways to Prosperity to those in poverty in the Greater New Haven area through: SERVICE, COLLABORATION, ADVOCACY, and KNOWLEDGE GENERATION.

 COMMUNITY ACTION PROMISE – Community Action changes people’s lives, embodies the spirit of hope, improves communities, and makes America a better place to live. We care about the entire community, and we are dedicated to helping people help themselves and each other.

SERVICE – Community Action’s signature programs, include but are not limited to: CT Energy Assistance Program, Passport Transitional Services, SMART Women, and Case Management services to low income families.

COLLABORATION – We work across sectors with our partners: municipalities, non-profit and for-profit organizations to provide collaborative services that meet our clients’ various needs.

ADVOCACY – We encourage low-income individuals to inform their elected officials of their position on poverty related issues in conjunction with CAANH.

KNOWLEDGE GENERATION – We support and collaborate with research institutions and other entities to obtain more in-depth knowledge about poverty and in determining the most successful strategies for leading people out of poverty.
