$25,000 Donation from the Eder Family Foundation

NEW HAVEN, CT, December 30, 2019 – The Community Action Agency of New Haven (CAANH) is pleased to announce receipt of a $25,000 donation, from the Eder Family Foundation. The gift will provide general operating support for Service, Collaboration, Advocacy and Knowledge Generation for those in poverty in the Greater New Haven Area. “We appreciate the Eder Family’s generosity, as their gift will help to advance and sustain CAANH’s services which are provided for over 22,000 low-income and working individuals in the communities we serve,” stated CAANH’s President and CEO, Amos L. Smith.

The mission of Community Action Agency of New Haven is to offer Pathways to Prosperity to those in poverty in the Greater New Haven area through: SERVICE, COLLABORATION, ADVOCACY, and KNOWLEDGE GENERATION. The gift will also to as many individuals and families that demonstrate a need. Last year we served 9335 families representing approximately 22,000 individuals.

COMMUNITY ACTION PROMISE – Community Action changes people’s lives, embodies the spirit of hope, improves communities, and makes America a better place to live. We care about the entire community, and we are dedicated to helping people help themselves and each other.

SERVICE – Community Action’s signature programs, include but are not limited to: CT Energy Assistance Program, Passport Transitional Services, SMART Women, and Case Management services to low income families.

COLLABORATION – We work across sectors with our partners: municipalities, non-profit and for-profit organizations to provide collaborative services that meet our clients’ various needs.

ADVOCACY – We encourage low-income individuals to inform their elected officials of their position on poverty related issues in conjunction with CAANH.

KNOWLEDGE GENERATION – We support and collaborate with research institutions and other entities to obtain more in-depth knowledge about poverty and in determining the most successful strategies for leading people out of poverty.
