S.M.A.R.T. Women (Single Mothers Actively Reaching the Top)

What is S.M.A.R.T. Women?

Single Mothers Actively Reaching the Top (SMART) – A 12-week program providing single mothers with a resource network, personal financial management training, women’s health, parenting/life skills, information/referral services, and case management services focused on helping them increase their level of self-sufficiency.

Services Offered:

  • Life Skills training on communication skills, goal setting, and creating action steps to achieving those goals.
  • Financial literacy that results in the development of money management skills that build savings and asset accumulation.
  • Job readiness training to foster job skills and employability.
  • Case management services to ensure that the needs of the program participants are met.
  • Women’s wellness session
  • Guest speakers
  • Educational field trips
  • Lunch included.
  • Informational sessions on homeownership, credit, resume building, and much more.
Eligibility Requirements:

Program requirements for the S.M.A.R.T. Women Program are as follows:

  • Live within the following catchment areas: New Haven, West Haven, East Haven, North Haven, Hamden
  • Fully vaccinated.
  • Single mother or grandmother between the ages of 18-55
  • Income at or below 125% of the federal poverty level.
  • Have a High School Diploma or GED
  • Be dedicated
